Snorkeling Scuba How do you breath underwater without a snorkel or Scuba Gear?
I would really like to know how to swim without a snorkel or scuba gear?I mean how do I do that in my neighbor hood swimming pool.If that can't be figured out how do I hold my breath longer?I would really like to now because swimming is one of my favorite sports and I have been swimming since I first got in the water.
You can't breathe underwater.
You *can* practice breathing exercises and expand your lung capacity so you can stay under longer. Take long deep breathes for several minutes then go under and trying to stay down longer each time. DO NOT take short shallow breathes and hyperventilate before going under because it can cause you to become unconscious and drown from Shallow Water Blackout. Also, it's best to practice breath holding in a pool with a certified lifeguard on duty.
Free-diving is a very interesting sport where one discipline is static apnea - timed breath holding in a pool (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Free-diving). If you watched the movie Blue Crush then you know that Hawaiian surfers sometimes practice by diving down and carrying large lava rocks back and forth underwater. Breath holds are important for them because large breaking waves can hold a surfer down for several minutes before they have a chance to come up for air.

Paddling Pfd Falling into a chest-deep river with a life jacket on?
I cannot swim, although as a kid I was able to paddle backwards with my feet with a PFD on. In the event of such a situation, what are the strokes I must use to either swim to shore, or stand upright? Keep in mind there is a moderate current.
I know very little about swimming, and my first instinct is usually to gasp and flail.
When I went river rafting, the guides told us to do this in the event we got thrown out of the raft: Lean back like you're sitting in a recliner. RELAX. Raise your feet up so your toes are near the surface. Keep your hands out to each side. If you are going through rapids, you can use your hands to steer around rocks. It might sound odd, but it works. Even the people in our group who were not comfortable in water got the hang of this right away.
I would think the same applies if you're in a river that is not moving as fast -- but just in slow motion. The main thing to remember is to relax -- the life jacket will do the work for you.
The Windstorm whistle performs in all conditions, in any weather or safety situation: blown and heard on land, up to 1/2 mile, and even underwater, up to 50 feet. Will the valves make a big difference for me? The local shop is selling a genesis like that used, and inspected for like... $160 bucks I think. After shipping etc from the website, it will be like $200, so I am saving a bit. Some advice please =)
Either tank will do fine. The 80 / 3000 tank is the smallest tank that I would get for paintball. Your first fill will give you 3000 psi. After that the psi falls. Once you get to less then 2000 psi, it’s nearly useless. If you are getting this for the use of one or two players, it should last you a days play fine. If you are going to support more players you may run short.
Used tanks are not a bad way to go. But check the hydro life on them. New tanks have 7 years of hydro with a yearly visual inspection needed . If the used tank only has 3 years left on it, get the new one.
It’s about twice the cost, however, a steel 120 high pressure (3450 psi) is the best tank for paintball. Assuming your markers tank is 3000, then you will get 3 to 5 completely full tanks before the psi of the scuba tank drops below 3000. Just be sure not to over fill your marker tank.

Glove Full Will the Milwaukee Brewers bring back old ball and glove logo full time?
Currently the Brewers are using the ball and glove logo as a retro throwback alternate on Friday home games. Will the team ever bring it back full-time? I don't know if they will, because it seems like they can sell a lot of merchandise for both logos if they keep it as it is. On the other hand, I've heard that they are basically trying to phase the new logo in before bringing it back for good. Anyone know about this or have an opinion?
Being born in Wisconson during the time of the bat and glove I say bring it back...
I have no clue if they will, but I'd like it if they did

Diving Bcd Scuba Diving - When ascending do you inflate your BCD?
When ascending from a dive to the surface, do you inflate your BCD while you are ascending at all, or do you only kick vertically until you reach the surface?????????
The short answer to your questions is...NO.
Now for the long answers...
From the practical standpoint, at depth (before you start ascending), you should be neutrally buoyant. To start your ascent, you can take a deeper than normal breath to get a little upward motion. As you ascend, you should be dumping some of the air as you go up. At any point, during the ascent you should be neutral.
From the safety standpoint, any air you add to the BCD will expand; therefore, making you more bouyant. This could lead to an out of control ascent. Plus, if you add air, you then have to dump the air. Personally, I would prefer to use my air to breathe.
The only time you might need to add air is if you are negatively bouyany at depth. You will need to add air to get to neutral. From that point, go back to my first "long" answer.
Also, common practice these days state that ascending 30 feet per minute should be the fastest you go. Some training agencies still train 60 feet per minute. The "no faster than your bubbles" hasn't been taught in a long time.
